Christmas is such a great time to spend with family and friends. It can, however, be an expensive time of year too. Keep Christmas costs down this year with edible Christmas gifts. This is a great chance not only to save some money but have some fun in the kitchen with your kids too. Here are a few ideas to get you started:
Biscuits: Bake some biscuits (some Christmas cookie cutters would be fun here), make some icing and get decorating (this one is good for the kids and for the adults too!)
Chocolates: Pick up some chocolate moulds (you can get these at a good price from most kitchen stores), melt your favourite chocolate and simply pour into the moulds.
Christmas bark: Melt your favourite chocolate, spread on a baking tray, and top with your favourite toppings. Nuts, dried fruit, freeze dried fruit, savoury snacks (e.g. pretzels), crushed up candy canes all make good options! Break into pieces and share with family and friends.
Brownie/Cake Mixes: Pop all the dry ingredients for your favourite brownie or cake recipe into a glass jar, and attach a small note with the recipe.
Christmas Sprinkles: Pick up a jar of Christmas themed sprinkles and turn any of your favourite recipes Christmas themed – easy as that.
Cookie cutters: Again, any Christmas themed cookier cutters mean you can turn your everyday brownie, cake, or slice Christmas themed.
These are just a few ideas, have some fun with your kids in the kitchen and they will no doubt be excited to share their creations with family and friends.
Have fun and Merry Christmas from all of us here at 2Bites!
